Oceanus, A.C. and its partner Habitas, seek to strengthen the resilience and potential adaptation of coral reefs to promote the recovery of the environmental services and associated biodiversity, through the implementation of a Reef Regeneration Program in the Tulum reefs.

Main Objective
Initiate the regeneration of the structure and function of sites in the Tulum reef area with the potential for recovery, through the installation of coral reef nurseries, followed by the increase of live, healthy, and genetically diverse key species.
Goals
Timeline
May – July 2023: Transplant 500 corals, placing them on the nurseries and the bases at the seafloor. Coral gardening to prevent the algae from growing over the coral. Monitoring activities to determinate the health condition and the survival of the recent coral transplants.
August -October 2023: Capacity building/ training of a local group of guides who will support the restoration and monitoring activities. Coral gardening to prevent the algae from growing over the coral. Monitoring activities to determinate the health condition and the survival of the recent coral transplants. Promotion of our project, inside and outside the hotel, to reach potential participants and create environmental awareness in locals and visitors.
